When Robert Jubinville heard that the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is supporting Kelly Timilty for District 2 Governor’s Council, despite her forging the governor’s name to a fake endorsement last election, he had to wonder whether she was up to the same antics again. “Someone should ask Robert Haynes, president of the AFL-CIO, whether this is another forgery?’” said Jubinville, an attorney from Milton. “We should assume that it is and assume that Kelly Timilty is up to it again.
Has she forged Bob Haynes signature?
You have to ask because I can’t believe he would ever support that kind of conduct: lawbreaking, cheating and forgery. He’s too good of a person.”
In the days before the 2008 primary election, Timilty of Dedham forged Gov. Deval Patrick’s signature on a fake endorsement and mailed it to thousands of constituents. She was fined $8,000 by the state Attorney General’s office and $1,000 from the Office of Political Campaign and Finance.
After an extensive investigation, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly called her the “No-Show” candidate in the 2008 race because they learned she had attended only half of the meetings.
“I don’t know how the AFL-CIO, which has a wonderful reputation for labor, could ever support a candidate who doesn’t show up for work half the time, who broke the law by forging Gov. Patrick’s signature to fool and cheat her constituents, which include members of the AFL-CIO,” Jubinville said.
Jubinville also said that the AFL-CIO endorsement raises questions of a conflict for Timilty.
Haynes’ endorsement implies that Timilty is the only candidate who will work for families when in fact her record shows she has NOT even showed to many meetings.
Jubinville, however, has an impressive record in fighting for families.
He was an active member in the Pipefitters and Sprinkler Fitters Union in Holyoke and was a union representative on the Massachusetts State Police when he was a State Trooper.
“What union has Kelly Timilty been involved in?” asked Jubinville. “And why didn’t the AFL-CIO take the time to research the union backgrounds of candidates? “The question is,” Jubinville continued: “What was given for the endorsement? And is she going to be a rubber stamp for everything they say?”
